HEATHROW AIRPORT TERMINAL DROP OFF CHARGE
From next Monday (1st November) BAA, the operator of Heathrow, is introducing a £5.00 drop off fee at all the terminals. I was hoping it would be a daily charge but, unfortunately, it is going to be charged per drop-off. Gatwick brought in the same fee earlier this year but is currently only operating the North Terminal. I don’t think Terminal 4 at Heathrow is operational either.
Unlike Luton, Stansted and City Airports the charge does not have to be paid at the time of drop off but uses a number plate recognition system similar to the Dartford Crossing and the congestion charge in London. This should prevent a build up of traffic in the drop off areas and therefore alleviate additional delay getting into the drop off areas at peak times (remember those?).

Lights for all seasons, not just Christmas
Most modern cars these days are fitted with led day-time running lights as well as light sensors to switch on the headlights when the light fades. Please remember that in most cars (not Volvo’s) the day-time running lights are only at the front of the car, leaving the rear unlit. Similarly, the light sensor that switches on your lights when the switch is on the auto setting, may not operate in fog or snow.
